> Winter Words - Menna Elfyn
Award-winning poet and playwright. She is a full time writer and
has published seven volumes of poetry. She has also written five stage
plays and adapted two for S4C. Her work has been translated into many
languages and she has presented her work in festivals around the world.
Although she writes only in Welsh [in Wales] her translators include Tony
Conran, Gillian Clarke, Joseph Clancy and Elin ap Hywel. During the last
two years she has been working in the US on a number of projects, mainly
libretti.
Author of two novels for teenagers, Rana Rebel
(2002) is the story of a child soldier who stumbles across two
innocent children. She has also edited a book of poetry for children and
in August 2002 was appointed Poet Laureate for the Children of Wales
(Bardd Plant Cymru).
